"A Conversation..."
I asked for commentary about the problems that we are facing (support and dissent) and expected to get a little of each. I never expected to get anything like this. this is an actual conversation I had with this guy through my email. The first letter was so offensive I had to reply and then it all went on from that point. This is the mentality that we are dealing with on this issue. I asked this guy if he wanted me to post and with no reply I can only assume he does not mind. I did remove his name and email to protect his privacy. C.P. if you are out there, I'll put your name and email on this if you wish, just let me know...
Anyway here's how it went;

I don’t understand why this is important. Just another excuse for our youth to drink and act crazy. There are a lot more important issues to address. I DON’T CARE!

Even though you do not care i do appreciate you taking enough time to send your note. If you wish me to post this comment on the site, i will. just let me know.
WE DO CARE about the safety of the kids (and their families) who come to our very well supervised event of 20 years. We also care about the 100 or so annual jobs that will be affected by any accident that may happen as a result of the reckless introduction of vehicular traffic by the Pearl Developers into the safe queing area that we have been providing for the last 7 years. As for the conduct of "our youth" that attend our event, Nightmare on Grayson's history and reputation speaks for itself. You obviously have never even set foot close to us when we are open, there is not a better organized and policed event in San Antonio at any time, period. If i didn't have to worry about the welfare of "our youth" I could address "a lot more important issues"
Don't worry we will still watch out for your kids, as we always have, regardless if you notice or not.

You are wrong. I did attend your event many years ago. Was not impressed by it, so have never been back. Just don’t understand why you demand to close a public street so you can make a little money. Evidently, your business neighbors feel the same way. If the youth are not smart enough to stay out of traffic, they get what is coming to them and maybe then you will see the liability is not worth it.

"...If the youth are not smart enough to stay out of traffic, they get what is coming to them..."
Brilliant, Mr. P******! I can see, clearly, you are a people person.
The newest of seven business neighbors' one voice dissent hardly qualifies as credible or overwhelming opposition but, there is a lot to be said of the voice of money and power and it's influence on our city's governing body. Aside from you and Silver Ventures, we are actually surrounded by support. Demand is also strong word for the simple City prescribed process we have been going through to get this closure prior the new neighbor. Call the San Antonio Chief of Police or the San Antonio Fire Marshal if you would like to get an opinion that about the way we do business or what might be considered an appropriate business decision.
Stand alone with our neighbor, Sir, in your belief that our actions are for profit, and sorry you didn't enjoy the show, I’ll let the staff know how you felt, and we will try harder for the next guy if you choose to not come back.
What I do not understand is what is so wrong with anything that we do - or have ever done. If your not into it, do something else and let the people that are, not be encumbered by your presence. Personally, as far as I'm concerned, you are always welcome.
Gordon C. Wise
Director of Operations
Nightmare on Grayson
P.s. just for the record we do not, nor have we ever, served alcohol at our event nor do we tolerate the use of any time that we are open so any drinking that you have referred to in your first letter did not occur at Nightmare on Grayson. If you can find one complaint, ticket citation or fine we have ever incurred (for anything) I would be delighted to see it, there have always been plenty of officers around to witness it if it ever happened.
- I will continue to cheerfully respond as long as it does not bring your offense.
no response, as of yet...

Diversity is what makes San Antonio one of the most memorable and unique cities in America. Nightmare on Grayson is a safe, charitable way to celebrate fall in San Antonio. Since this request doesn't involve a residential area, there should be no problem in allowing the closure of these streets during the evening hours to promote public safety...especially since a majority of the visitors will be children and young adults. Keep San Antonio safe and allow San Antonio%u2019s children to celebrate a tried and true American holiday in a safe and secure atmosphere.

Don't grant economic favoritism to the Pearl Brewery. And remind me, how do nighttime street closures affect ANY businesses in the new Pearl Brewery complex? Nightmare on Grayson is an institution, and should be respected as such, regardless of their neighbors' whims.

I've been a Peace Officer for over 30 years. I've work hundreds of events during my career. I can, without reservation, state that NOG, Nightmare On Grayson, is the safest, most wholesome family type event I've ever been associated with. I've worked security for NOG for years without a single incident involving a major criminal act. The Staff works hard to ensure the safety of everyone coming to NOG. There is a close watch for any abuse of alcohol or drugs. Disorderly Conduct or unsafe practices are not tolerated.
NOG makes a real effort to reach out to the San Antonio Community. Last year alone NOG gave out free tickets to many local students who would not have otherwise been able to attend any event of this type. I know that many of the employees are area college students who depend on income from NOG to help with their college expenses. I have met customers who have come from as far away as Austin and Uvalde to see NOG. This is one of those top San Antonio Attractions that needs to be supported by the City of San Antonio.
