Thank you for your interest...we hope to gain your support. Our goal with this site is to educate the public about the issue of a street closure requested by Nightmare on Grayson and the resistance we are receiving from the operators of the Pearl Brewery. It is our intent to report both sides of opinion in a fair and unbiased manner.

YOU DECIDE WHATS RIGHT AND "FRIGHT" FOR IT!

INTENT

NIGHTMARE ON GRAYSON IS APPLYING FOR THE TEMPORARY STREET CLOSURE OF A PORTION OF EAST GRAYSON STREET INCLUDING THE STREETS AND SIDEWALKS BETWEEN ISLETTA AND AVENUE A, AND THE TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF KARNES STREET INCLUDING STREETS AND SIDEWALKS BETWEEN EAST JOSEPHINE AND
EAST GRAYSON STREET ON THE FOLLOWING NIGHTS IN 2008 FROM 6:30 PM TO MIDNIGHT;

  • SEPTEMBER 26, AND 27
  • OCTOBER 3, 4, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, AND 31
  • NOVEMBER 1

FOR THE PURPOSE OF PATRON QUEING, INCREASED PUBLIC SAFETY, CARNIVAL TYPE CONCESSIONS, AND MINIMALLY AMPLIFIED OUTDOOR ENTERTAINMENT.

***Please note that we feel that a full closure of Grayson Street as described above is the most logical arrangement that offers the highest level of public safety. In an attempt to compromise we are requesting that 2007's street layout be adopted again in 2008. This configuration gives Nightmare on Grayson the two westbound lanes and opens one eastbound lane on the south side of Grayson Street for vehicular acess to the Pearl Brewery (see diagram). This petition is for the ENTIRE closure of Grayson Street. We want to send this message to our city government.

OPPOSING OPINION

The operators of the Pearl Brewery oppose this annual event stating that this event is too large in scale and is impacting the surrounding neighborhood and their businesses in a negative manner.

This item will be before San Antonio City Council and voted for approval pending assignment to council agenda.

IF YOU HAVE AN OPPOSING OPINION YOU FEEL THAT WAS NOT EXPRESSED FAIRLY, OR YOU WISH TO MAKE A COMMENT THAT YOU BELIEVE MAY BETTER DESCRIBE THE ISSUES ON THIS MATTER, PLEASE CONTACT US AND WE WILL POST ANY COMMENT FREE OF VULGAR LANGUAGE, AND THREATENING COMMENTARY.
